Joanne C. McKenna, 89, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Valley View Senior Life Center in Junction City. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Tim Maguffee officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. The cremated remains will be buried at Skiddy Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to First Presbyterian Church.

Joanne was born April 8, 1932 in Junction City, KS the daughter of John L. and Ruth L. (Smythe) Wood.

Joanne graduated from the Junction City High School with the class of 1950. After graduation, she attended Marymount School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse at Geary Community Hospital for many years. She later worked as a school nurse for U.S.D. #475. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Order of the Eastern Star where she served as the worthy matron. She also served on the hospital auxiliary at Geary Community Hospital and served on the board for the Geary County Health Department.

Survivors include two sons, John M. Ehlers and Robert "Bob" J. Ehlers; one daughter, Susan Erichsen and her husband Harold all of Junction City, KS; one grandson, Paul Erichsen and his wife Annie of Beatrice, NE; one granddaughter, Amanda Tomlinson and husband Peter of Manhattan, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Jim Wood and one sister Julia Ehlers.
