Jerry S. Dye, 81, of Junction City, KS, passed away September 1, 2021 at Good Shepherd Hospice Center in Manhattan, KS. Cremation has taken place per Jerry’s wishes.
Jerry was born in Villa Rica, GA on December 18, 1939 to William H. Dye and Mary E. Dye.
Due to his father’s service in the military, Jerry attended many different schools including 2 ½ years in Wuerzburg, Germany. He ultimately graduated from Junction City high school in 1957.
Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp and frequently said “Once a Marine, always a Marine.”
He loved to work on cars, so he owned and operated his own auto mechanic business in Junction City for 40 years.
Jerry was a member of First Baptist Church in Junction City where he served as a Trustee and a Deacon for many years. He was also a member of Gideons International since 1991.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Terrell “Ted” Dye, and 2 infant bothers.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Dye; two sons, Scot (Amy) Dye of Manhattan, KS; Darin (Holly) Dye of Fredericksburg, VA; granddaughters Caitlin Dye and Evangeline Dye; grandsons Daniel Dye and Nicholas Caudle; sister, Megan Elaine Rose of Villa Rica, GA; many other family members and friends.
The family has planned a visitation time with family and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at First Baptist Church, 7th and Jefferson, Junction City. A memorial service will be held at a later date and inurnment will be in Welcome Cemetery in South Eastern Geary County.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested for First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 31, Junction City, KS, or Gideons International, P.O. Box 1351, Junction City, KS. If you choose not to mail them, any memorials can also be left at the church.
