Ms. Thomas was my first and second grade teacher at Lincoln elementary. I am in my forties now and I would always see her at Walmart and she remembered me. She made a difference in me as a child because she seen potential for me to excel. She took me out for ice cream to reward me a few times. I wish a true depiction of who this wonderful teacher to so many children in USD 475 until her retirement, and her work as a reading specialist after retirement, she was so loved and special to the many children and parents who had the joy of working with her. I learned of her passing just happening to look through this site, and her name stuck out, the comments confirmed it was who I thought, I was sad to see that a picture of her smiling face, and a little bit of story about the big impact she had wasn’t shown, I am thankful to have been taught by Ms. Sherry Thomas.

We were friends since 1988. She was the best friend I had through some very difficult times in my life. She was special. She was an excellent and popular elementary school teacher, she served in that capacity for 30+ years. She will be truly missed.

Ms. Thomas was one of my all time favorite teachers, matter of fact she was my very first teacher. She taught Kindergarten. Always had a smile on her face and when she disciplined, it was with love! Fast forward to later…I was working at an elementary school as a paraprofessional and I was in one of the kindergarten rooms. She came in as the substitute teacher. She actually remembered who I was so we reminisced for a little and caught up. I even told the students that she was my teacher when I was their age…the look on their faces was priceless lol. My condolences to the family and all the wonderful people who knew her. May she forever be remembered!

I knew Miss Sherry from when she would come to Konza for various appointments. She would always come to my window. I knew her for over a year, and there was never a bad experience, never a day where she was short-tempered or mean. Receptionists, we see a lot of frustration, a lot of lashing out. Never with Sherry.
It was always such a gift when she would come in; I knew that no matter what anyone else said or did, there'd be a friendly face that would be happy to see me and that I'd be happy to see. I know it's the same for a lot of people here in Konza. From the nurses to the dentists to the receptionists, we all knew Sherry, and we all cared about her.
She is loved.

Sherry, your lovely smile and greeting will be missed by many as they leave Walmart. I am grateful for the years I was able to see your lovely smile while in the district. May you Rest In Peace.

To the family of Sherry. She was a delight to see at Walmart and to hear her story of being a retired school teacher was amazing. I switched careers myself and she was an established customer here.
Her blue hip hair was always fun just as her personality.
The good lord needs good educators as I am sure she is doing in heaven.
RIP Sherry! It was a pleasure to get to talk to you on my trips to the local Walmart.

Sherry and I were co-workers at Lincoln Elementary in the 80’s and 90’s. I will always remember Sherry with her unique dress style and dresses. She enjoyed her jewelry with great care given to her bracelets and pins. Often she tied a lovely scarf tied to her purse. She enjoyed shopping and her doggy babies. She will be missed. Rent in peace my dear friend.
