John M. Eakes, 61, of Manhattan, Kansas passed away on May 12, 2023. Cremation will take place. Family will hold services at a later date. Memorials may be made in his honor to any good cause of your choice.

He was born on November 6, 1961, Salina, Kansas to Sylvester and Carmen (Swaim).

John started working at 9 years old for the family business, T&J Sheet Metal of Wakefield, Kansas. He continued in the sheet metal industry his entire life. Later he and his son started their own business, Eakes Builders based in Manhattan, Kansas.

John is survived by his son, Shon Eakes of Manhattan, Kansas; his mother, Carmen Eakes of Wakefield, Kansas; and his ex-wife, Jill Eakes of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; nephew, Tyler Eakes of Riley, Kansas; niece, Erika Eakes of Manhattan, Kansas; and host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Thomas Eakes.
