Jimmie L. "Jim" Baird, 78, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. A visitation will take place at Johnson Funeral Home on Monday, May 22, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service with military honors will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home. Cremation will follow services. Memorial donations in Jim's honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Jim was born on September 26, 1944, to Leroy and Grace (Sullivan) Baird.

He joined the United States Navy in 1969 and served for eight years. After his discharge, he became an electrician. Jim was an electrician for over 50 years. He started with Bemis Bag Company in California and then moved to Kansas to continue his career with Mid America Machine Corporation. Later on, he worked for Armor Swift until retirement.

In July of 1976, he married Julie Baird, and they raised two boys together. They were married for almost 50 years. Jim deeply loved his family and spending quality time with them. He spent most of his free time fishing and camping with his family.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Julie of the home; two sons, Jessie (Rosanne) Enriquez of Wilmington, California, Robert "Bobby" Enriquez of Junction City, Kansas; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; siblings, Kay Taylor of Wichita, Kansas, Dean Baird of Housington, Kansas; and a host of extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Baird; daughter-in-law, Carol Enriquez; and one grandchild, Inez Enriquez.
